Our Story

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals with involved disabilities or complex chronic illnesses in Massachusetts lost many services essential to independent living.

We founded Feltin Community Care to restore responsive, interdisciplinary care in the home; promote independence; and advance the goals of health equity throughout the Commonwealth.

Feltin Community Care opened its in-home primary care practice in February 2023. In our first year, we’re working to identify, onboard and care for at-risk individuals with involved disabilities and complex needs. Over the next three years, we will access more sustainable financing through value-based contracts and innovations to traditional fee-for-service payment models. Once fully demonstrated, in accordance with our non-profit mission, we will disseminate our learnings to medical practices, community health centers and physician or hospital associations.

Feltin Community Care was inspired by Dr. Marie Feltin, the late wife of our founder, Dr. Bob Master. She was an innovative healthcare pioneer and tireless advocate for medically challenged populations.

In 1995, the Boston Center for Independent Living established the annual Marie Feltin Award ceremony. The event honors individuals whose work exemplifies the values, commitment and innovation that Dr. Feltin brought to her work and her patients.
